Bamboo Forest, originally uploaded by wmchu.

A bamboo forest in Japan.

Did you know that bamboo is a group of perennial evergreens in the true grass family, and that Giant bamboos are the largest members of the grass family? Wikipedia says so.

It also says that bamboos are some of the fastest growing plants in the world! Some species have been recorded as growing up to 100 cm (39 in) within a 24 hour period!!
