Cordoba, Andalucia, Spain. The Mezquita Mosque, originally uploaded by sanguedolces.

According to wikipedia, this is called the Mezquita-Catedral (Mosque-Cathedral) by the residents of Cordoba, in Spain. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The mosque building started in the mid-700s, and in the 1200s was turned (back) into a Christian church. Some believe the conversion to a Catholic cathedral may have helped to preserve it when the Spanish Inquisition was most active.
