Home on the range, originally uploaded by sjb4photos.

More cattle, more mountains – I’m still in a Lonesome Dove frame of mind.

Southern Alberta Foothills, Spring 2010, originally uploaded by Gord McKenna.

The mountains in this shot (taken from southern Alberta) are in the Livingstone Range, located primarily in Montana and British Columbia.

I chose this picture in honour of the 1989 television mini-series Lonesome Dove, based on the book by Larry McMurtry. I read the book over the summer, and watched the mini-series over the past couple of weeks. Both highly recommended.

OK, this isn’t something I saw on Flickr, but it’s awesome and I had to share it.

Birds on the Wires from Jarbas Agnelli on Vimeo.

A musician came across this photograph of birds on a wire and read it as music, transcribing each “note” to create a tune. It’s quite beautiful. (And thanks to Gretchen Rubin at The Happiness Project for the link!)

Enjoy!

Ivor Novello blue plaque

Ivor Novello blue plaque, originally uploaded by sleepymyf.

The Ivor Novello Awards were named for (you guessed it) Ivor Novello – he was the first person to receive one, actually!

See a picture of Lily Allen with her three Ivor Novello awards!

ARGENTINIEN-Buenos Aires – Evita Perón-Skulptur , originally uploaded by roba66.

A scupture of Eva Peron in Argentina.

I have to admit that most of my information about Eva Peron comes from the musical Evita and from Wiki.

I find the information about the Rainbow Tour particularly interesting.

And I knew she had died young, but not how young – she was only 33.
