St. Paul’s Cathedral and Millenium Bridge; London, originally uploaded by Arpad Lukacs.

Juxtaposition of old and new, as you see St. Paul’s Cathedral and the Millenium Bridge in London in this shot.

According to Wikipedia, this is considered to be London’s fifth St Paul’s Cathedral, all having been built on the same site since 604 AD. It was the tallest building in London from 1710 to 1962.

The London Millenium Footbridge was opened in 2000 – then shut down for two years while modifications were made – and reopened in 2002. (It was featured in the movie Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, even though that film is set in the mid-1990s and the bridge had not yet been built.)

Hotel Del Coronado and Moon, originally uploaded by FrogMiller.

A neat shot of the Hotel Del Coronado (the Hotel Del to locals) in Coronado, across the bay from San Diego. (This picture shows the hotel with Christmas lights.)

Wikipedia tells us that the Hotel Del “is one of the oldest and largest all-wooden buildings in California and was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1977” and that “[w]hen it opened in 1888, it was the largest resort hotel in the world and the first to use electrical lighting.”

Featured as the hotel (said to be in Florida) in the film Some Like It Hot starring Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis, and Jack Lemmon – which, if you haven’t seen it, do so immediately!! It will improve your weekend immeasurably.

warm/cold, originally uploaded by minervacat.

It’s been a pretty mild winter in Toronto, until today. It’s FREEZING!! (And I think the heat might be out at work – boo.)

This photo, though, does make really cold weather look appealing; a frozen fountain is cool to contemplate. (Especially from here, while drinking a nice cup of tea.)

Sunset Over the Gulf of Mexico, Florida, originally uploaded by Jeffpro57.

Amazing colours in this sunset over the Gulf of Mexico. I’m a big fan of the setting sun reflecting in the water, and of the setting sun behind piers over water (as you can tell by this and other shots I’ve taken) and this one is just gorgeous.

I especially like the clouds.

Still Life of Blueberries & Lemons: This photo is one from a set of three. Each represents complementary colors in photography. This one represents blue and yellow., originally uploaded by PhotogLvr.

A still life of blueberries and lemons. Now I really want some blueberries. And some lemonade.

Flamingo fleeing / Flamenco huyendo , originally uploaded by Aztlek.

A cool action shot of a flamingo running/flying/flapping through water. (If you’re like me and have only ever seen flamingos standing around in zoos, this is very impressive!)

Polar bear! Look at those paws! (So cute! Until it bites your face off.)
