Today’s picture is of a wheel of parmigiano that didn’t quite pass the test to become parmagiano reggiano. (Learn more here in the original photographer’s very interesting photo-essay about the creation of parm!)

This week I am obsessed with learning to make my own cheese.

    are you serious? you’re making cheese with stuff from ricki the cheese queen?!!
    i was at her place last fall for a singing weekend – it was amazing (except for the tick bite)
    if you want a perfect extended weekend trip, go and do a workshop onsite (just don’t lean on any trees, and give yourself a once-over for those pesky tics) and go for breakfast at Elmer’s Store
