All in a row.., originally uploaded by JonathanD17.

I didn’t realize at first that this was multiple zebras, I was captivated by the one in the foreground!

Taking a black and white subject in black and white – interesting!

Organizing buttons, originally uploaded by Chez Larsson.

I really like the lightness of the scene in this photo. There’s the glass jar, the white buttons, white surface, white walls in the background, the turquoise artwork, and the lovely dangling lights at the doorway… the scene feels very peaceful to me.

Grapefruit Sun, originally uploaded by 3dphoto.net.

Mmmmmmmmmmm, citrus. Not only is it tasty, but it’s good for combatting scurvy!

I seem to have a thing for slices of citrus on light tables; maybe it’s because this is how good citrus tastes to me – light and fresh.

I really like this close-up shot without context, the edges of each tiny bubble of juice are clearly visible, and the colour is lovely.

Mmmmmmmmmm, grapefruit. (Though I must admit, I usually prefer white to pink.)

I Used to Be Among the Crowd You’re In With, originally uploaded by Thomas Hawk.

Today’s photo is of a staircase in the Mechanics Institute Library in San Francisco. The original poster notes that it is the oldest library on the West Coast, started in 1854.

I really love the swirl of the stairs/banister, and the almost wave-like optical illusion I feel when I look at this. And I love that it’s in black/white/grey; somehow, it’s perfect without any other colours.

Roman soldiers, originally uploaded by galdo trouchky.

Today’s photo is of a relief statue of Roman soldiers; I love the detail on the sculptures, and the change in lighting from dark to light as you look from the background to the fore.

Today’s photo is inspired by The Soldier of Raetia, a historical/military novel (with m/m romance) by my friend Heather, which she is posting in installments. (Chapter 11 went up today!)

hello kitty sushi, originally uploaded by katgyrl.com.

Hello Kitty SUSHI! This is just about the cutest thing I have seen all day!

The composition of the sushi on the plate is just great.

(And come on, it’s Hello Kitty sushi!)

Victoria BC at Twilight, originally uploaded by cooler than h2o.

I really like this shot of the harbour and Parliament of Victoria, BC at twilight. (Inspired by my watching of the Canadian Women’s Curling Championships currently going on in that city.)

I like the light falling softly on the boat just to the right of centre in the foreground, and the lovely shimmery lights in the left foreground. The lights on the Parliament buildings are lovely, and the colours of the sky and the water are beautiful.
