Another beautiful sunset in South Africa – this on was taken in the Kruger National Park, one of the largest game reserves in Africa. Some of the species of animals living in the reserve include African Buffalo, African Hunting Dogs, Black Rhinoceros, White Rhinoceros, Burchell’s Zebras, Bushbucks, Cheetahs, Common Eland, Giraffes, Greater Kudus, Hippopotamus, Lions, Leopards, Spotted Hyenas, Elephants, Waterbuck, Blue Wildebeest, and Impalas.

Wiki tells us that Johannesburg (also known as Jozi, Jo’burg or eGoli) is “one of the 40 largest metropolitan areas in the world, and is also the world’s largest city not situated on a river, lake, or coastline”.

Also, news to me, Johannesburg “is not officially one of South Africa’s three capital cities”!

Amazing colours in this sunset over the Gulf of Mexico. I’m a big fan of the setting sun reflecting in the water, and of the setting sun behind piers over water (as you can tell by this and other shots I’ve taken) and this one is just gorgeous.

I especially like the clouds.

I’m reading a really fascinating book about the Galapagos Islands (The Boy on the Back of the Turtle: Seeking God, Quince Marmalade and the Fabled Albatross on Darwin’s Islands by the wonderful Paul Quarrington), and so today’s photo is of a Galapagos sunset.

You can see why the islands were called the Encantadas or Enchanted Isles!
