Sichuan Takin 7-6-09, originally uploaded by Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens.

I just love takin, I think they’re adorable. (According to Zooborns are considered national treasures by the Chinese; they are fewer than 75 takin in just 20 North American zoos. (I’ve seen them at the Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago – check it out if you’re there, it’s a nice zoo, and it’s free!)

and so it ends. 365:365!!, originally uploaded by sungazing.

This photographer did the 365 Project (a photo a day every day for a year) and here she is with her 365 photos. She also paired every photo with a literary quote or lyrics to a song that expressed what the photo meant for her at the time. (You can see the photos she took here.)

How inspiring!

Herkey Leap, originally uploaded by jmurphpix.

Today I should be posting some kind of Guy Fawkes-ish photo (Remember, remember the Fifth of November/ The Gunpowder Treason and Plot) but today’s picture is in honor of some family friends in Illinois – big Iowa Hawkeyes fans – who sent me an awesome Iowa sweatshirt.

Today’s picture is of Iowa Hawkeyes mascot, Herky the Hawk – go Iowa!
