I was very sad to find out this week (via ZooBorns) that Toola, a sea otter I’d seen at the Monterey Bay Aquarium, had died. She was a rescued sea otter and the first to raise stranded pups that were successfully returned to the wild; she was a surrogate mother for 13 pups. (Learn more about her at that ZooBorns link.)
